Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related death in Australia, with 80 people dying of the disease per week. It’s a common condition, and as colorectal surgeons we are specifically trained to treat it. Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia & New Zealand
We’re members of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia & New Zealand. It has existed since 1988 and is formed by subspecialty trained colorectal surgeons from both countries. They aim to improve the outcome for patients with colorectal disease through subspecialty training, research and education. CSSANZ also details a number of colorectal conditions.
Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
Formed in 1927, The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), is a non-profit organisation training surgeons and maintaining surgical standards in Australia and New Zealand. Their purpose is to be the unifying force for surgery in Australia and New Zealand, with Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) standing for excellence in surgical care.
